A thousand dollars arrived. Nobody agrees on what to do next.

Your employer says they will add something. A relative wants to help. Someone forwarded a message about an October deadline. And the two adults in the house do not agree on whether to put your own money in.

This page asks one connected set of questions, once, and shows you the arithmetic your household is actually standing in. It does not tell you what to do with your money, and it never will.

Baseline

Every figure on this page was verified on 24 August 2026 and is dated on purpose, so you can tell when it went stale. Nothing you type here leaves your browser. Independent: no affiliation with the U.S. government, the Treasury, or the IRS.

About your household

Nothing here is asked that is not used. Every answer feeds at least two parts of the result.

The child

This is the eligibility window, the lock date, and the projection horizon, all at once.

Is the child a U.S. citizen?
Does the child have a Social Security number?
Has the $1,000 federal deposit landed?
The money moving this year
$

If two employers contribute for the same child, enter the total. The $2,500 limit is per employee; the $5,000 cap is per child.

On top of what is already in — not including it. This is also the number the projection uses.

The rule constants, if they change

Editable so this page stays correct when the numbers move, and so you can see which rule produced your result. The annual cap is indexed for inflation after 2027.
